| "GATES OF FIRE" by Steve Pressfield In my humble opinion is one hell of a good book! (Can I say that? Yep it's my web site so I can!) Steve is able to transport you to Thermopylae so you relive the Glory, the pain, and the sorrow from long ago. There have been many books from many great authors but none has stirred the imagination that Steve was able to do. Historically accurate, exciting and educational. WHY and HOW, Hollywood passed on making their latest movie after the "GATES" is beyond me. Instead they made the movie 300, after a stupid comic book. About the only accurate item to come out of the movie was that they all died in the end! Geez folks, we learn from history, not comic books. If you haven't yet, make sure you pick a copy of GATES OF FIRE and add it to your book collection. | "THE OLYMPIAN" Gene Kraay It's not too often that I have the honor to review a book but I was asked by the publicist and the author to do just that. So if this doesn't work, it's all their fault. lol. With my busy schedule, I figured I'd read this book over a couple of weeks but I have to tell you folks, I couldn't put the darn book down. Gene, just as Steve was able to do, kept my interest the entire time. Without telling you too much of the book (READ IT YOURSELF) Gene has a different approach to the reason only 300 Spartans marched off to Thermopylae. Simonides of Ceos (poet) and Theagenes(boxer) are the main characters and as you are never too old to learn, I have learned from Simonides about judging people and the image of what happened at Thermopylae will stay with me for a very long time. I have to tell you that I love pictures. This book doesn't have any and if it kept my attention the entire time...It's a damn good book! I highly recommend you running out and buy yourself a copy and add it to your collection! Well done Gene! it was a pleasure to read your book. I can't wait to read your next one!
